Ruhr-Universität Bochum
“Human – Global – High Performance”: this is the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) with its 32600 students and around 4700 staff. Founded in 1965 the campus is international and interdisciplinary with students and staff from all over the world teaching, researching, and studying across disciplinary boundaries. The big plus for of the RUB is that the entire spectrum of the natural, engineering, and social sciences, medicine, and the humanities can be found on the “Campus of the Short Way”. Research focal points are: neuroscience, protein research, structural biology, plasma research, systems chemistry, materials science, IT security, and religious studies.

Technische Universität Dortmund

Technische Universität Dortmund, founded in 1968, is a university marked by high research and transfer competence. In accordance with its primary principle “Men and Technology”, education and research are interdisciplinary developed and realized by contributions from engineering and natural sciences as well as from humanities and cultural and social sciences.
Research and education are characterized by the cooperation of the university’s science fields. About 21.500 students are studying at Technische Universität Dortmund, concentrating on natural and engineering sciences and teacher training. Each year approx. 2.000 students leave the university after a successful graduation. The whole study program is based on a bachelor and master system.

Universität Duisburg-Essen
The University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) was founded in 2003 after the two universities of Duisburg and Essen merged. A wide range of internationally oriented subjects from various disciplines, including the Humanities, Social Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Natural Sciences and Medicine, can be studied here. The 32,000 students can choose between approximately 100 Bachelor and Master programmes, as well as teaching and medical degrees. High priority areas of research include Nanotechnologies, Empirical Research in Education, Medical Biotechnology, Urban Systems and Change in Contemporary Societies.
